ESSIC Research Associate Leon Chafik was a co-author of a recent early release study published by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science (PNAS). The paper entitled, "Impacts of high-latitude volcanic eruptions on ENSO and AMOC," explores the long-term effects of high-latitude eruptions on the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) as well as the El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO).
