Yang and Yang Published on Atmospheric Water Profiles

ESSIC / CICS-MD Associate Research Scientist Hu Wang and ESSIC / CICS-MD post-doctoral associate John Yang recently published an article in IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing titled “Radiometry Calibration With High-Resolution Profiles of GPM: Application to ATMS 183-GHz Water Vapor Channels and Comparison Against Reanalysis Profiles”.

The study compares atmospheric water vapor profiles between satellite and reanalysis using data from the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) core observatory and the Advanced Technology Microwave Sounder (ATMS).  It reveals differences between those factors and provides methods of using satellite profiles for radiometer calibration.

Hu Yang’s main study field includes passive microwave radiometer calibration/validation, satellite geolocation, and satellite observation simulation.  John Yang’s research interest is Earth remote sensing.
