Wei Named Associate Editor of JGR: Atmospheres

A headshot of Jing, wearing a suit in front of a blue backdrop Jing Wei has been appointed an Associate Editor for the journal JGR: Atmospheres of the American Geophysical Union (AGU). As an Associate Editor, Wei will maintain and improve the quality of the journal, facilitate a timely review process, and assist the editor to solicit important and thought-provoking articles. JGR: Atmospheres (IF = 5.22) publishes original research articles that advance and improve the understanding of atmospheric properties and processes, including the interaction of the atmosphere with other components of the Earth system, as well as their roles in climate variability and change.

 

“It’s exceptional for Jing to serve as an associate editor in such an early stage of his career,” says Prof. Zhanqing Li, his mentor at ESSIC and the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Science.

 

Wei provides editorial services for other several other journals in addition to JGR: Atmospheres. He is an editor of Earth System Science Data (IF = 11.82), which aims to publish articles on original research data (sets), furthering the reuse of high-quality data of benefit to Earth system sciences. He is also serving an associate editor of Remote Sensing (IF = 5.35) which aims to publish articles about the science and application of remote sensing technology. He is also on the editorial boards of International Journal of Digital Earth (IF = 4.61) and Frontiers in Earth Science (IF = 3.66).

 

Wei received his PhD in 2021 under the supervision of Prof. Li, and now is now a faculty research associate at ESSIC. Wei’s primary expertise lies in satellite remote sensing and machine learning, including the retrieval of ground-level particulate matter concentrations (PM1, PM2.5, PM10) and trace gases (O3, NO2, SO2, and CO), assessment, improvement, and algorithm development for global aerosol products, cloud detection, as well as the effects of air pollution on environment and public health.
