Smail organizes symposium in the Caribbean about Sustainable Development Goals

ESSIC senior faculty specialist Emily Smail is organizing a symposium to educate Caribbean Small Island State policymakers and other stakeholders who are working to meet the United Nation’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The workshop is called “Implementing and Monitoring the Sustainable Development Goals in the Caribbean: The Role of the Ocean” and will be held Jan. 17-19 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The goal of the meeting is to identify existing and new ocean observation products that will help inform decision-making. It is co-sponsored by the GEO Blue Planet Initiative, GEOSS Science and Technology Stakeholder Network and the Mitigation and Adaption Research Institute.
