Performance artist to instruct university researchers on communication

ESSIC / Geology professor James Farquhar is one of nine participants of a university sponsored pilot program seeking to improve campus researchers’ communication techniques.

Leslie Felbain, the director of the MFA in Performance program in Maryland’s School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies will lead the program.

Felbain will meet with participants and coach them through activities that improve persuasive speech, such as eye contact, tempo, and breathing techniques.

Patrick O’Shea, the university’s vice president of research is the originator of the pilot program, which is scheduled to include six one-hour sessions with Felbain and researchers, over the course of several months.
