The ISI Web of Science reports that the two top-cited papers are from the 1996 publication “The NCEP/NCAR 40 Year Reanalysis Project” by Eugenia Kalnay, AOSC and IPST, et al., and the 1997 publication “Global Precipitation: A 17-year monthly Analysis Based on Gauge Observations, Satellite Estimates, and Numerical Model Outputs” by Phillip Arkin, AOSC and ESSIC, et al., both published in the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society.
